Minimap - 1 Month on

I released the Minimap Sidebar addon for Firefox just over a month ago, and so far am pleased with how it has gone. In this time I have had ~10000 downloads, and with the latest release I put on firefox.spatialviews.com today (0.1.4.7) some significant improvements to boot.

Enhancements include three modes; addresses, directions and kml, I have dramatically improved the Map Tab, and also tweaked the handling of kml links so that should behave a lot better.

Lets hope August continues in the same vain!

I really enjoy the updated features. For those using the new MyMaps feature that Google Maps offers, this sidebar does a great job of handling the MyMaps you have created.

    Hi John

Glad the extension is of use, I hope Google release an API for MyMaps so that the extension can become more than just viewing the MyMaps layer.

hey bud this has made my work much more productive! only 2 more things, when i clear a long list of placemarks it takes a long time to do so, and when i create directions it lists the placemarks title, but i would like it to display the address. could this be an option?

    Hi Brian

Deleting a whole list is dreadfully slow and not a lot I can do about this i’m afraid - the placemarks are stored in a firefox RDF file which are very slow to write to (I assume you are refering to when you shift click to select many items??).

Whilst I understand that listing addresses rather than title’s may be more useful for some, I had to go for the majority option; semantic reference is easier and quicker to understand for most ie. My Home, My Office, Mom’s House etc.

If you really want to change it, please following the instructions on this page: http://groups.google.com/group/minimap-addon/browse_thread/thread/064c0d6df42597d0

    Cheers, tones
