Just a quick note to highlight a few recent changes to the new Minimap website. Firstly, I have added a new page to the Help section called Share Locations - please note the the Get Lat/Lng HTML addition will not be available until the 0.2.4 Firefox release (Flock 0.8.6). I have also added all the text for the Donors Club extra help pages, although I still need to add some images.

Finally a quick aside, Bruce over at geotagicons.com was kind enough to feature the Minimap Sidebar/geoFlock in the Developer Showcase section!

I have been busy adding some significant enhacements to Minimap this last week and wanted to give everyone a heads up - it should hit addons.mozilla.org in the next few days (Flock users - this version is currently in the flock extensions queue).

- Significant speed improvements: Did you ever try deleting multiple locations? Yikes it was SLOW! I have massively speeded it up, as well as slight speed improvements for adding locations (although I have no control over the google geocoder)
- Export KML, CSV, GPX or .minimap (a custom xml file for transferring placemarks between browsers): Either the complete address list or a selection can be exported in these four file formats, which are saved to a file locally. Now you can import into Google MyMaps using this exported kml file!
- Import KML, GPX or .minmap: Now you can import placemarks into your addresslist from local files in this format. CSV is a bit of a headache and one I might return to.
- Fine tune marker location: Ever added a marker and the address is not quite where you wanted it? In the edit properties dialog there is a small map with the marker which you can drag to refine.
- Improved options dialog (Firefox version only - many thanks Teo from Babelzilla)
- Microsoft Live maps links can now be dragged and dropped
- View location in Geody (Firefox only)

That will do for the time being

In this time I have had ~10000 downloads, and with the latest release I put on firefox.spatialviews.com today (0.1.4.7) some significant improvements to boot.

Enhancements include three modes; addresses, directions and kml, I have dramatically improved the Map Tab, and also tweaked the handling of kml links so that should behave a lot better.

Lets hope August continues in the same vain!

To find out more about this sidebar extension, head over to firefox.spatialviews.com. The operator script talked about in my previous post is also compatible with this new extension.

Existing users of geoFlock will be able to install and use this extension alongside your current install as they share the same address list. It should be pointed out however, that the Firefox version does not have the photo and blog geotag dialogs; it is not recommened as a standalone install instead of geoFlock unless you do not geotag.

The main difference between Screenshot and Screengrab is the ability to send your captures straight to the Flock photo uploader. I have also included capture window functionality, with a dynamic menu allowing you to select the window to capture. Please be sure to read the extensions feature page and the Java vs Canvas comparison page.

Most credit of course goes to Andy Mutton for developing Screengrab, and I also wish to thank Richard Phan for helping me out with a code snippet.

Hi Folks. If there is any geoFlock users out there, I have added a few extras to the Cormarant version (no longer supporting the flock 0.7 version due to forthcoming Flock 0.9 release).

First up is traffic information. Open up the minimapper topbar and click on the small car button to toggle Google supplied traffic info. It looks like major USA cities only at present, but hopefully google will extend to more locations.

Next I have added limited support for kml files - if you see a kml file link on a webpage, drag and drop onto the minimapper topbar to view. This is just a simple implementation at present to get a quick look at the kml without loading up Google Earth; I personally do not want to go down the route of creating a 2D version of GE in geoflock.

UPDATE: Have noticed a bug with the following, will correct in next release by wednesday 20.00 GMT. Finally, the flickr geotag dialog now contains a new button: click on it and all your public geotagged photos from flickr will show on the dialog map - useful to see where you may have geotagged photos in the past.

Head over to flock.spatialviews.com and install geoflock 0.7.3 FOR FLOCK 0.8/0.9 ONLY.
